Antioxidants help your system to fight damage caused by free radicals; pollution, additives in food, and environmental toxins. Everything that causes stress on your body causes stress on your cells; this is damage by free radicals. By boosting your system with loads of antioxidants, you’re boosting your immune system to fight off these stressors.

What else do these ‘free radicals’ do to my body you ask? Well, they cause ageing. Seriously. Ageing is damage to cells, over the years, by free radicals (pollution, the sun, stress, environment). Since antioxidants fight free radicals and the damage they cause, antioxidants (matcha tea) can be considered anti-ageing. Win.

Moving on from antioxidants…

Japanese varieties of matcha contain high levels of chlorophyll, which is said to help with the detoxification process. Chlorophyll helps to cleanse the blood whilst maintaining the alkalinity of blood and tissues. Bonus to this, our Matcha is Japanese certified organic. So it's free from nasties.

Yep. Really. Matcha is said to increase thermogenesis - the body’s own rate of burning calories meaning that consuming matcha speeds up your metabolism. So drink up.

The unique form of caffeine in matcha, theophylline, can sustain energy levels without the usual crash from your mid-morning coffee. Making matcha a wonderful alternative to coffee.

Possibly the most beneficial aspect. Matcha is said to have a calming and relaxing effect on the mind…and since we now know the damage stress can do to the body (ageing, weakened immunity), it's time we all had a little cup of matcha.
